| Strategy to Beat the Ruby Weapon |
Ruby is the harder weapon of the two. To start, take the stronger person in your party (not Cloud), and place him/her in the center. We'll assume you chose Barret. Here is what he will need:
Mime Materia
Master Summon + MP Turbo
Master Magic
9999 HP (recommended)
999 MP (recommended)
W-Summon
W-Item
Final Attack + Phoenix (or Life2)
Ribbon
Mythril
Now, equip Cloud with the following:
Knights of the Round
All Materia + Life2
Equip the third person in your party with any strong summons. If you have a third Knights of the Round, give him that. |
| Before the Fight |
| Before you enter the fight, walk around and get into a separate fight. Kill everyone in your party except Cloud. |
| The Fight |
| Right away, Ruby will put it's arms out. Have Cloud cast Life2 on everyone. Now you have a few minutes into the fight with everyone in your party! Have Cloud cast Knights of the Round on the arms and Ruby. Have Barret cast Knights of the Round on the arms, and Choco Mog on Ruby. The object is to have Barret (or the person you gave all your good materia to) agitate Ruby less than anyone else so that Ruby won't use Whirlsand on him. Then have the third person in your party cast a strong summon on Ruby. Then keep having Cloud cast KOR and the third person casting a strong summon while Barret uses Megalixers. Repeat this process until everyone is gone except for Barret. Now is where the real battle starts. If Ruby happened to suck down Barret, consider yourself dead and restart the game. As soon as everyone is gone, have Barret cast Shield on himself. Then cast W-Summon with KOR. Use an Elixer and then cast Shield again. Then use W-Summon with KOR again. If Ruby puts his arms out, kill them right away instead of using KOR twice on Ruby. Repeat this process until Ruby is dead. The reason you keep casting Shield is it nullifies almost all of Ruby's attacks, or they miss. |
| Alternate Strategy |
| Equip Master Summon with HP Absorb. This time, enter the fight with everyone alive. Wait until everyone has been sucked down, then cast W-Summon and KOR. Whenever you do this, you will restore all your HP, so just keep Miming it over and over!!! |
| Alternate Strategy 2 |
| Go get Lucky 7's by the Chocobo Ranch by getting 77 at the end of your HP. Then, instead of getting the HP up to 7777, get it up to 7677. Enter the battle with two people dead, and use Life2 on all of them. Then use a potion on the person with 7677 HP, and they will attack for 7777 64 times. I haven't tried this, so some of the 64 attacks will probably hit the Tail. Then just use KOR with W-Summon and hopefully you'll win. |
